Ham Radio from a Lighthouse?

As discussed on the ARES net April 16, some of us are thinking about taking part in an international lighthouse Ham Radio event. This would take place on the weekend of August 16/17, but we may do just one day. At first glance, it looks like the best locations are on Lake Huron, in Point Clarke, Goderich or Kincardine, but we need to do more research if there is interest.

For information on the event:

Interested in Pedestrian Mobile (PM)?

Read the original book (First Edition Amateur Radio Pedestrian Mobile Handbook) which has now been released for free....by Edward R. Breneiser, WA3WSJ as a PDF.
This is because there is now a newer printed edition which you are encouraged to to purchase.
Lots and lots of useful information to gleam. Not just for PM. Any outside work.
Heres the blurb.
The purpose of this handbook is to provide the amateur radio operator who is interested in operating pedestrian mobile with the needed information to get on the airwaves. Hopefully, with this information the average amateur radio operator will have enough knowledge to build and operate a pedestrian mobile amateur radio station.
(apparently the link has changed a few times - so let Simon know if it goes out of date)

Aerial footage of DHARS at Stow Maries Aerodrome, Essex, England from FPV
This was over Simon VA3SII's local radio club in England.
Some aerial footage of DHARS at Stow Maries Aerodrome, which is being bought back to life from WW1.
Heres the clubmembers YouTube submission comments "My first FPV flight using a QAV540G, still some of tuning to do with the quad, the gimbal and my thumbs!"
I thought his method of control shown at the end was interesting.

Buddies in the Caribbean 2013 on Barbados-8P6 - mini-DXpedition
In Feb/2013 the "Buddies in the Caribbean" mini-DXpedition (a group of 8-hams specializing in 100 watt or less low power radios and the Buddipole portable antenna system) spent a week operating from the island of Barbados on beaches, mountains and from their villa. This is an annual effort to demonstrate "ultralight" DXpeditioning into magnificent "vista" locations, operate a field portable battery-only radio with back-packable, lightweight antennas and most of all "have fun!"
